About

Damon Dagnone is an ER doctor and medical educator at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. In 2018, he published a book “Finding Our Way Home: A family’s story of life, love and loss” (https://www.amazon.ca/Finding-Our-Way-Home-familys/dp/172387616X) describing parts of his journey since losing his 3yr old son to cancer in 2006. Since then, he has continued to explore the intersection of the medical humanities with physician wellness and the concept of ‘doctor as person’. He has sought out opportunities to share with others the path he finds himself on caring for patients - one interaction at a time - and is currently the co-lead of the Humanity in Healthcare series at Queen’s Health Sciences (https://healthsci.queensu.ca/opdes/faculty-development/programs/humanity-healthcare).

His honest and enthusiastic interview style highlights his innate ability to connect with others and facilitate building shared communities of practice.

As an associate professor of emergency medicine, Damon continues to be immersed in many medical education pursuits as part of his academic career. This includes multiple teaching & leadership roles in residency education, research in competency-based medical education training systems, and mentoring of junior colleagues.

When not in the ER or hospital hallways working and chatting with colleagues, patients & trainees, Damon can usually be found doing something outdoors with his wife Trisha and his 2 awesome children.
